Dear Staley,
We were saddened to hear that your wonderful mother has passed. Please accept our heartfelt condolences!
You might not remember me but we met at Georgeanne's home a couple of times when she had her famous gatherings in Roanoke. I was lucky to volunteer for the now Taubman Museum under her guidance. What a dynamite, fierce lady she was! I admired her dedication and love for the arts.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

"Where would we be without friends?" Georganne knew this all through her life -- and she reminded us of that just before she passed. She was surrounded by those who loved her, respected her, and admired her. She is indeed at peace knowing she made a huge positive impact all through her life. We are the beneficiaries of that. And for that we are grateful. Peace be with you, my friend.

Ed & Staley,
We were blessed as kids to have amazing leaders in Lexington. Your Mom was a leader among leaders. She was one of the special people that made Lexington an amazing place in which to grow up. I'm sorry to hear of her passing, but find comfort that she leaves an incredible legacy.

I met Georganne through her dentist husband when they lived at Cedar Island. We then worked together and became fast friends. She is a wonderful, funny, interesting and generous person that made a difference in the lives of others. I am so glad our paths crossed. Prayers of comfort to her family.

Dear Stanley,

I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I remember singing as a member of the Cherub Choir at First Church in that very starved white robe with the equally starched red bow. Your mom's love of music and talent was so appreciated in Lexington.

Know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Marsha

It's right for us to weep but no need to despair. Georganne had pain here but there is no pain there. She struggled here but there is no struggle there. Georganne is, at this very moment, at peace in the presence of God.
Georganne was one of the most generous people I ever met. She added richly to my life with her many kindnesses to me. I knew her from the NC Museum of Art & worked with her many times. Even to coming to Roanoke & staying with her at her beautiful condo while I organized her office. During that time she was generous & kind. I'll always remember her for the wonderful opportunities she allowed me. She was a blessing to me.
