Virgil Rupert Kiger, 82, of Lexington, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born July 11, 1940, in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to Everette Lee Kiger and Mona Lawson Kiger.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, sister Minnie Sue Peddycord and his late wife Francess Summey Kiger.
Mr. Kiger leaves behind, one son, Virgil Eugene Kiger and his wife Donna, two daughters, Teena Kiger-Smith and her husband Brad, step-daughter Felecia Dawne Bryson and her partner Donnie Hunter, two brothers, William Kiger, Edward Kiger, a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren, as well as his fiancé Marilyn Brewer and her daughter Shawnda.
Virgil worked in the food industry as a meat cutter/manager for Harris Teeter/Kroger for thirty-five years. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Kiger loved to fish and enjoyed watching Nascar races.
There are no services scheduled at this time. Family request that memorials be made to any veteran based charity of their choice.
