Thadford Donneill Dickerson Sr. of Lexington NC passed away at the age of 65 on September 8, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Dickerson was born October 15, 1954 in Davidson County, the son of James and Ollie Pearl Dickerson.
Left to cherish his memory are his lovely wife of 46 years, Missy Dickerson, three sons: Thad Jr, Temel, Jonathan, his daughter and baby girl, Me’sha, and his sister Darlene Mason. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Wessie Banks, brother-in-laws, Ricky and Mark Banks, his bible teachers, Anita and Alex Bradley, two spiritual mothers, Flo Counadis and Jean Luccionis and a host of family and friends.
Mr. Dickerson served in Public Safety for over 30 years. He was hired by The City of Lexington Fire Department on December 21, 1981 and retired as Fire Chief on June 30, 2010. His dedication to the citizens of Lexington and the members of the fire department was what he was most proud of.
Mr. Dickerson was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he served as an Elder for over 25 years. He was an exceptional teacher and enjoyed encouraging his spiritual brothers and sisters of all ages.
Also known as “Sug”, he was a hard worker who loved to cook, enjoyed traveling with his family, playing his bass guitar and spending a quiet Saturday afternoon watching a Western or listening to Motown music.
He will be greatly missed by all that he touched, for he was a generous and loving man.
We at Davie Burial & Cremation Services of Lexington are honored to be serving the Dickerson family during this difficult time. Condolences may be left online at www.daviefunerallexington.com
