Sylvia M. (Burns) McNamara of Arcadia, NC, age 71, passed away in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 17, 2018.
Known by family and friends as Sib, she was born in April 1947 in Chautauqua, NY. She moved to the Winston-Salem, NC area in 1986 and Arcadia, NC in 1989. She was an avid sports fan, fiercely loyal to her teams (Yankees, Bills, Wake Forest, Hornets, and, of course, Phil), who enjoyed competing with family in fantasy or pick ‘em games. Sib loved to garden and cook, and always made sure no one left her home hungry. She worked as a Medical Staff Coordinator at WFBH from where she retired in 2014.
She is survived by her son, Jason Joslyn of Winston-Salem, NC (Surprisingly NO GRANDCHILDREN!), five nieces / nephews and eleven great nieces / nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Eleanor (Webber) Burns, her husband, Joe McNamara, and her sisters, Mary Lou Powers and Patricia Balcom.
A Memorial Service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2730 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2pm.
Special thanks to the care providers in the Cancer Center at WFBH who helped her along her battle for eighteen months. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research | Victory over Cancer, https://www.jimmyv.org.
Davie Burial & Cremation of Lexington will be serving the family. Online condolences may be posted at www.davieburiallexington.com
