Samuel William Goins, 81, of Davidson County, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2018. A native of Avery County, he was born May 18, 1937, the son of William Goins and Sylvia Ingram Goins. He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy Goins, five brothers and one sister.
Mr. Goins was employed by the City of Lexington Electric Department, for 28 years as a supervisor. He was a member of the Spruce Street Baptist Church of Lexington and a former member of the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church in Avery County.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Clara Leonard Goins, two sons, Craig Goins (Lisa) of Lexington, Chuck Goins (Audrey) of Denton, a daughter, Kimberly Cline of Lexington, three sisters, Hidia Kepley, Rebecca Crotts (Bryce), and Maxine Leonard, all of Lexington, and four grandchildren, Zachary Goins, Joshua Goins, Samuel Goins, and Kaitlyn Cline.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 2pm to 3pm at the Spruce Street Baptist Church in Lexington, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3pm at the church.
There will also be a service at the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church in Newland, NC, Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2pm, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church cemetery.
