Martha Layne (Lanning) Walser

Martha Layne Lanning Walser, also known as “Layne and O’me,” by her family and friends, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, September 30, 2021, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Walser was born in Davidson County, NC on March 30, 1942, to the late George Edward Lanning and Virginia Michael Lanning. 

She graduated from Asheboro Business College with an Associate degree and worked as the Office/Finance Manager for Walker and Associates for many years.

Mrs. Walser was a long time member of Yadkin Baptist Church of Spencer, where she was a very active member when she was able to go.  She taught Sunday School for the Primaries and was the church Treasurer for twenty-five years.  She also devoted her time to being a youth leader in the church as well.

Martha loved people and constantly did for others.  She loved going to the beach, canning, gardening, her dogs, and her grandbabies.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Terry Lee Walser, her parents, George and Virginia Lanning, two brothers, Robert Lanning and Luke Lanning, and one sister, Ronda Money.

Those left cherish her memory are two daughters, Angela Myers (Bobby) of Linwood and Jennifer Parsley (John) of Linwood, two brothers, Billy Lanning of Lexington and Ed Lanning of Lexington, six grandchildren, Brock Myers (Jamie), Dr. Kaylan Myers-Massey (Andrew), Saige Parsley, Maguire Parsley, Gannon Parsley, and Kerrigan Parsley, and two fur babies, Molly Lee and Anna Marie.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Amanda Fulp. 

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 3pm, with a one hour visitation prior to the service, at Yadkin Baptist Church in Spencer, with the Rev. Roger Steadman officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery following the service.

Donations maybe made to the Food Pantry of West Davidson and the Davidson County Humane Society.
