Steve 77, was born to Lewis S. and Rachel Nance Freeman in Davidson County NC. He passed away peacefully at his home under hospice care on Nov 4th, 2023.
Steve was known for his contagious smile and his jovial personality. He had a passion for flying his plane, loved horses, riding motorcycles and music, which he enjoyed for many years and loved to share these with family and friends.
Steve was a member of Paul’s Chapel Church, and a 1964 graduate of West Davidson High School
He worked his early years with the Ambulance service and with Piedmont funeral home, and spent over 30 yrs. and retired from Billings Freight Systems, Inc., as a long- distance driver.
He was proceeded in death, by his parents, his brother David E Freeman, his sister Sandra F. Johnson, his nephew Thomas C. Freeman Jr., and brother in law Bryan Hays.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 yrs, Shelby H. Freeman of the home, His step son Stephen Hendren of Thomasville, his brothers Tom Freeman (Jane), Dwight Freeman (Jan) both of Lexington, his sister Gwendy Hays of Dallas TX,
Nieces and Nephews, Rick Johnson, Beth Stewart (John), Micah Hays, Joshua Hays, Whitney Hays, Taylor Freeman, Gray Freeman.
Great- Nieces and Nephews, Melia Tysinger (Lucas), Trevor Swicegood (Samantha), Clay Walser (Felicia) Karsten Driskell Meadow Stewart and Johna Stewart
And many great-great nieces and nephews whom he adored!
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, at Paul’s Chapel Church, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following the visitation at 11:00am. The Rev. Aaron Long and Rev. Richard Johnson will be officiating the service. Inurnment will follow the service in the church Columbarium.
