Jerry Wayne Holmes

Jerry Wayne Holmes, age 73, of Lexington, N.C. passed away July 30, 2020 at his home.

Mr.Holmes was born on September 24, 1946 in Smyth County, VA. the son of the late James R. Holmes and Beulah Mae Casey Gates.

Mr. Holmes worked in the furniture industry as a shaper for Lexington Furniture for eighteen years. He attended school in the Smyth Co. school system. He is of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Holmes enjoyed wood-working crafts, trout fishing, and golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Beulah Holmes, four brothers, William Holmes, Jeff Holmes, Jim Holmes, Bob Holmes; and two sisters, Cathy Frye, and Rita Davidson.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Barbara Leonard Holmes,  four sons, Mark Holmes of Virginia, Bradley Morris of Mocksville, Michael Morris of Lexington, Allan Lipford Jr. (Danielle), of Lexington, two daughters, Traci Hennessee (Stacy), of Winston-Salem,  Beverly Phillips (Junior) of Thomasville, two sisters, Louise Sims (Buck) of Michgan, Linda Surber of Virginia, fourteen grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday, Aug. 4th at Davie Burial and Cremations Chapel from 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Graveside service will be Wednesday, Aug. 5th at 11:00 AM. at Lexington City Cemetery with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Davie Burial and Cremations.
