Janice Baker Strickland, 72, gained her wings on Monday November 11, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. A native of Davidson County, born on July 5, 1947, a daughter to the late Nathan Edward Baker and Helen Mae Johnson Baker. Preceding her in death are parents, three brothers, Marvin Baker, Robert Baker, & Ricky Baker, one son Jackie Wayne Strickland Jr.
Janice attended Robins High School. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. Janice worked as a CNA in the Healthcare Industry at Lexington Healthcare.
Those left to cherish her memory are a husband of fifty-two years, Jackie Wayne Strickland; a son, Joseph Alan Strickland (Christy) of Lexington; a daughter, Jennifer Baldwin (Chris) of Lexington; four brothers, Jimmy Baker of New London, Billy Baker of Tyro, Larry Baker of Lexington, and Eddie Baker of Reedy Creek; seven sisters Shirley King of Tyro, Carol Long of Advance, Karen Baker Coggins of Denton, Deborah Walser of Lexington, Sandra Murray of Thomasville, Patty Burrow; of Asheboro, and Donna Bivens of Reeds; three grandchildren, Meagan McDermont, Rebecca Baldwin, Scarlett Strickland; and one great grandchild, Emilyn Rosales.
The family is accepting friends and loved ones on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 4:30-6:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be begin at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Freedom Baptist Church with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating.
