James Edward Barnes, age 68 of Linwood, N.C. passed away March 14, 2021 at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Barnes was born on August 22, 1952 in Halifax County, N.C. the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Ethel Elizabeth Rooker Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was a car salesman for Gibson Auto for 10 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved church and he loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Ethel Barnes, one son, James Barnes, Jr., one brother, Grover Jr. Barnes, one sister, Ethel Hedrick, and one niece, Karen Carter.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of forty-nine years, Elizabeth Diane Baker Barnes, one son, James E. Barnes III (Jamie) of Lexington, one daughter, Charlotte Boggs of Linwood, one sister, Dorothy Toler of Lexington, three grandchildren, Jordan Hill (Tiffany), Brittany Bowles (Austin Hemphill), Elizabeth Barnes and one great-grandson soon to be born, Ryland Hemphill.
Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Davie Burial & Cremations Chapel from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
