Gurney Lee Wyatt, Sr. 85, of Lexington, North Carolina passed away on September 5, 2023 at Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson Co.
Mr. Wyatt was born April 16, 1938, in the Windy Gap Community of Wilkes Co., North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Edgar Wyatt and Joyce Mae Myers Wyatt, a brother Herman Homer Wyatt and one grandson, Cody Lee Swain.
Mr. Wyatt worked as a truck driver for over 40 years. He attended Lexington City Schools and served his country in the US Air Force. He attended Madison Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Mr. Wyatt had previously been a deacon at Arrington Heights FWB. He was a lifetime member of Club Vette, showing his prized 1988 Corvette Convertible. Also he was very instrumental and active in supporting the “Joshua Youth Group” in Albemarle, N.C.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Wanda Wright Wyatt, one son, Gurney Lee Wyatt Jr .(Jeannean), one daughter, Sharon Denice Wyatt, two sisters, Evelyn Wyatt Waisner, Marcella Wyatt Gillespie, two grandchildren Bryan Lee Wyatt (Kimberly), Sydney Hannah Singleton (Noah Danby), two great-grandchildren Jada Lene` Wyatt and Parker Rhea Wyatt.
The family will have a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 11:00am to 12:00 noon, at Madison Heights FWB Church. Service will follow at 12:00 with Rev. David Robinson and Rev. Doug McGee officiating. Burial to follow at Mt. Carmel FWB Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Madison Heights FWB Church or Hospice of Davidson Co.
