Elizabeth Long Obituary

Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Long, 70, passed away Wednesday morning, April 1, 2020 at Autumn Care & Rehab in Salisbury, NC. A native of Berkeley County, South Carolina, born on August 11, 1949. Along with her parents, Thomas Griffin Jr. and Aileen Bizzell Griffin, she is preceded in death by her late husband Robert Wayne Long.

Elizabeth graduated from  South Wayne High School in 1966. She graduated from Winston-Salem State “Class of 1968” where she obtained her Associates degree. She worked as a purchasing agent in the air transportation department at U.S. Airway for more than ten years. Elizabeth was of Methodist faith. Her favorite hobby was collecting teapots. She also enjoyed mystery novels, coffee, and BBC comedies. She was a devoted animal lover throughout her life. 

Those left to cherish her memory a son, Geoffrey Elmore (Cynthia Elmore) of Louisville, Kentucky; a daughter,, Jennifer O'Brien (Josh Perry) of Washington D.C.; a sister, Leigh Duque (Toney Duque)  of Carey, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Emma O’Brien, Amelia Elmore, and Silas Elmore.  As well as her caregiver and close friend, Sherry Miller of Lexington.

In order to comply with the directives from Governor Cooper’s office, a small private memorial service will be held at later date.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the caregivers at Autumn Care Rehab in Salisbury  for caring for Elizabeth.
