Earl Lee Blanton

Earl Lee Blanton of Linwood, passed away April 7, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. 

Mr. Blanton was born March 19, 1945, in Pender County, North Carolina to Rufus J. Blanton and Mamie Ree Pearsell Blanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son in law, Randall Ivey; three brothers, Dawson Blanton, Martin Blanton, Alton Blanton; and three sisters, Norma Broxton, Judy Lewis, and Virginia Branham.

Mr. Blanton graduated from Central Davidson High School, Class of 1964. He worked for 57 years, as a Barber, of which 42 years was at The Hair Company. He loved being a Barber and talking to people. He was the recipient of The Order of The Long Leaf Pine Award and was a faithful member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington.  He loved his family, his church and his customers.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Kathy Blanton; two sons, Curtis Blanton of Lexington and Brad Blanton (Leigh) of Charlotte; two daughters, Kathy Jo Hale (Eric) of Lexington and Michelle Ivey of Lexington; one brother Larry Blanton (Wanda) of Asheboro, six grandchildren, Ryan Chase Hale, Ashley Kathleen Hale, Isaac Jacob Foust Ivey, Jordan Matthew Ivey, Sarah Alexa Blanton, and Jackson Bryce Blanton and a host of honorary grandchildren that referred to him as papa Earl.

The family will have a gathering of family and friends, on Monday April 10, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church and a Celebration of Life service on Tuesday, April 11, at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church at 1:00pm with the Pastors Jeremy Benbrook and Frankie Matthews, officiating the service.  Interment will take place at Forest Hill Memorial Park immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made to the American Children's Home or to Sheets Memorial Baptist Church.
