Donald Craver Cope

Donald Craver Cope, 76, passed away peacefully in his home on October 5, 2024, with loved ones by his side, including Shelia, his beloved wife of 56 years.

Donald was born in Lexington, NC, to Julia and Wyatte Cope.  He was a member of Reeds Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Sink.

Donald was a graduate of West Davidson High School and attended NC State University.  Donald was an avid carpenter and loved using his creative visions to build anything from the ground up.  He was an exceptional handyman, and never complained about how many times Shelia wanted to repaint the house or redo the kitchen cabinets.  He enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved to fish the North Carolina coast, always praying for a big fish he would be able to keep and enjoy.  His spirited nature and sense of humor made him a cherished friend to many.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Shelia Essick Cope of the home, daughters, Donnell Cope of Lexington; Angie Cooke of Winston Salem; and Sharee Wilson (Ryan) of Middleburg, Florida.  Also surviving are grandchildren; Reagan Cooke, Kyle Cooke, Brieanna Wilson, and Aidan Wilson and brothers Roy Cope (Treva) and Dan Cope (Lynn); and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Reeds Baptist Church, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to begin at 4:00pm, with Pastor Henry Watterson, officiating. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to either Reeds Baptist Church or to Trellis Supportive Care.
