Dolores E. (Lauter) Lewis, 93 passed away at Brookstone Assisted Living Community in Lexington on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
She was born in New York City on September 5, 1930. Mrs. Lewis was a self-taught artist. She attended New York University. Over the years she studied with and gained painting skills from artists Arthur Barbour, Janet Walsh, Zoltan Szabo and Skip Lawrence. She exhibited her work locally in Charlotte and in New Bern. She was also an accomplished potter of decorative stoneware.
Mrs. Lewis is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey William Lewis, of 62 years. She is survived by one son, Craig Randall Lewis of Asheville, one sister-in-law, Joan Burgert, of Cape Cod, MA, a cousin and 4 nieces and their families.
There will be no calling hours or service. Internment will take place at the National Cemetery in Salisbury at the convenience of the family.
