David Julian Sink, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8th , at Brookstone Retirement Center from Parkinson and dementia.
David was born on October 4, 1947, to David Clarence Sink and Juanita Sink Sink in South Boston, VA, The family relocated two years later to the Cotton Grove community. David graduated from Central Davidson High School and NC State University. He was very active in 4-H/ FFA, and Farm Bureau's Young Farmers and Ranchers. In 4-H, he won many state discussion meet competitions and was an adult leader. In FFA he also won many dairy judging competitions and was a state FFA officer. In Farm Bureau he was a state winner in discussion meets and in 1978 he and Janie and Joe were selected one of three national Young Farmer and Rancher families in the nation due to his advanced farming techniques,
David was also very dedicated to his church, Cotton Grove United Methodist Church, where he held many leadership positions and worked tirelessly to promote and assist with any project. He loved to sing and was the driving force of Sojourner, a contemporary Christian group in our area.
David dairy farmed with his father until 1986, then began a trucking business to help farmers with their feed and supplements needs.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Janie Rowe Sink; his son, Joe (Christy); his grandchildren, Maverick, Mckinlee, and Isabella; his sisters, Jane Crotts (Dennis) and Mary Payne (Tom); his sisterin-law, Kathy Wright (David), all from Lexington; his brother-in-law, David Smith Rowe, from Indian Head, MD; and many nieces and nephews, as well as his many beloved "Sink" cousins from all over.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no public service held at this time.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Life Center and especially the staff on the Memory Ward at Brookstone for the love and compassion they showed David while he was a resident.
