Cletus Lancaster Potts

Cletus would like to let you know that all his work here on earth is done. He received a call, one offering him an opportunity he couldn’t refuse, for its time for an important appointment and he wouldn’t be returning. This assignment comes with many benefits, a huge sign-on bonus, and a joyous reunion his wife of seventy-six years as well as many other loved ones that he hasn’t seen in a very long time. This mission will be the greatest yet. It’ll take him to a place where the streets are gold, happiness and love is guaranteed, and his heart will be content. He leaves behind a note to his children and loved ones with specific directions to celebrate his life that he lived on earth and to not be sad, for he will see you all very soon.

Mr. Cletus Lancaster Potts, 93, passed away early Tuesday evening, May 21, 2019 at Lexington Healthcare with loved ones close by his side. Cletus was a native of Davidson County. Born on a June 6, 1925, a son to the late couple, Arthur H. Potts and Ollie Towe Potts. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by a wife of seventy-six years, Rachel Everhart Potts, a brother, Ervin Potts, three sisters, Arlene Lanier, Thelma Koontz, and Mildred Lanier. 

Mr. Potts attended Lexington School. He was a member of the Second Reformed UCC and attended the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lexington. He worked at PPG as a fixer in the fiber glass industry for more than sixteen years.

Left to cherish his memories are a daughter, Gaynell Link (Richard) of Lexington; a grandson, Brian Link of Lexington; and a great granddaughter, Jasmine Piotrowski.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Pilgrim Lutheran Church on Ridge Road in Lexington with Rev. Craig Saltzer officiating. Friends and loved ones can pay their respects one hour prior to service.
