Bessie Oliver Thompson Darr, 92, died on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at the Hinkle Hospice House in Davidson County. Bessie was a native of Davie County and was born on November 15, 1927. She was the daughter of Ray and Ethel Langston Thompson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Ben L. Oliver and Mock Darr, also by two sons, Benny Oliver and Henry Oliver. She was also predeceased by a brother, Ray Thompson, three sisters, Margaret Summers, Lorene Brooks and Kathleen Knight.
Bessie graduated from Davie County High School. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fork Baptist Church. She worked as an inspector in the textile industry at Dakota Mills for many years. Bessie enjoyed spending time with her close friends and loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Johnny Oliver of Reeds, a daughter, Kaye Perry (Curtis) of Thomasville, four grandchildren, Jamie, Stacy, Chris, Amanda; and several great-grandchildren.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Fork Baptist Church from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Robert Garrett will be officiating.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hinkle Hospice House of Davidson County.
