Sandra Kay “Sandy” Willoughby, 65, passed away Monday evening, June 11, 2018, at Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington. She was a native of Davidson County, born July 18, 1952, the daughter of the late Ruby McGee Berrier Shoaf and Sammie Beck. Also preceding her in death was her husband of almost 47 years, Bobby Ray Willoughby, who passed away October 15, 2017.
Sandy was a graduate of West Davidson High School, Class of 1969. She was a retired dispatcher with the Lexington Police Department and a member of Arrington Heights Free Will Baptist Church. Over the years, she and her husband enjoyed many motorcycle rides together. She was also a member of the Lexington Moose Lodge. She deeply loved her family and she had two special dog companions, Jada and Minnie.
Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Christi Willoughby (Staci) of Lexington; her siblings: Deborah Hattaway (Gary) of Salisbury, Sheila Spainhour (Bill), Kathy Martin Gibson and Gail Pressley (Gene), all of Lexington, and Ray Shoaf (Donna) of North Myrtle Beach, SC; plus nieces/nephews Ramie Spainhour (Brandy), Harry Spainhour, Blake Myers (Maggie) and Andrea Myers Strauss (Bryan). She also had an extended family which included Judy Williams, Carol Purdy, Calvin Willoughby and Don Willoughby.
There will be a gathering of family & friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM Saturday, June 16, in the chapel of Davie Burial & Cremation Service of Lexington. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM.
Due to her choice of cremation, memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to go to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292, or to the charity of donor’s choice.
