Frank Junior Johnson Sr., 83, died late Wednesday evening on October 2, 2019 in the comfort of his home in Davidson County. A native of McDowell County, West Virginia, born on March 8, 1936, a son to the late Frank A. Johnson and Virgie Estelle Sweeney Johnson. Preceding him in death are parents, four brothers, Robert Kindoll, Willie Kindoll, JC Johnson ,Donald Johnson, three sisters, Juanita Hutchinson, Mary Golden, Ethel Lawson, two daughters, Birdie Johnson, and Elizabeth Blankenship, a son-in-law, John Tolliver, two grandsons, Dewayne Blankenship, Robert Addair, two granddaughters, Melissa Lester, and Leann Atwell.
As a child Frank attended the McDowell County School System. He began his thirty-year career in the Mining Industry in West Virginia in which he retired from. He then began working in the Furniture Industry on the assembly line at Leggett and Platt for more than seventeen years. He was of Baptist faith.
He leaves behind a wife of twenty years and soul mate for more than thirty years, Mrs. Delores Lane Johnson, a son, Frank Johnson Jr. and four daughters of West Virginia, Vickie Sparks (Timmy), Michelle Coe, Agnes Atwell (James), and Rosetta Tolliver, one daughter, Jocelyn Johnson of South Carolina, one daughter, Patricia Kennedy (Ricky) of North Carolina, and one daughter, Diane Addair (Tommy) of Virginia, two step-daughters, Christina White, and Tammy Smith of North Carolina, one sister, Sandy Pruett of North Carolina, several grandchildren, and multiple great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, October 7, 2019 in the chapel of Davie Burial & Cremation. A graveside service will be held at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, North Carolina at 2:00 PM on October 7, 2019 with Rev. Billy Wayne Boone officiating.
