Eugina Marie Hargrave, 83, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 30, 2018, at Pallidon Hospice House in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a native of Davidson County, North Carolina, born on May 11, 1935, the daughter of the late Lee and Ophelia Tillman Holmes. She is preceded in death by her husband of more than thirty years, Amos Lee Hargraves, four brothers, Joseph Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Odell Holmes, and Williard Holmes, and three sisters, Betty Neely, Elizabeth Brown, and Mildred Holmes.
She was a graduate of Old Dunbar School. She retired as a Line Leader from the Textile Industry, JH Ferguson, in whom she was employed with for seven years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memories are two sons, Danny Hargrave (Velma) of Lexington and David Hargrave of High Point; three daughters, Mary Hargrave of Lexington, Kimberly Hargrave of Thomasville, and Latavia Challenge (Johnathan) of Florida; one twin brother Eugene Holmes of Virginia; a sister, Gail Winton of Durham; nine grandchildren Lusaundra, Hulin, Kimberly, David, Clifton, Sheekeria, Amos, Brian, Heather; sixteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM at Files Chapel Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow in the sanctuary officiated by the Rev. Park Alexander. Interment will follow at South Lexington City Cemetery.
