Ernest “Vernon” Owen, 90, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, under the care of Hospice. He was a native of Davidson County, born September 26, 1927, to the late Cuther D. and Rosa Crook Owen. He was the widower of the late Joan Comer Owen who died in 2017.
Mr. Owen attended Davidson County Schools. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He retired from United Furniture Company as a shipping clerk in 1980. He attended Currytown Baptist Church.
Remaining to cherish his memory are two daughters, Cindy Koll (Steve) of Atlantic, Iowa, and Kristi Mount (Chad) of Glenwood, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kelly and Katie Koll; and his caregiver and friends, Jennifer P. Steele, Chad Steele, Mark Perry and Peggy Perry.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Sprinkle and Ruby Brown, and four brothers: Buford, Elzavan, Willie and Lewis Owen.
Visitation with family will be from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM in the chapel of Davie Burial & Cremation Service of Lexington. A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be follow at 2:00 PM in Lexington City Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Money officiating. Military Honors accorded by the Davidson County Honor Guard.
