Charlie Frank Byerly, 88, passed away Wednesday afternoon on September 5, 2018, at the Hinkle Hospice House with family by his side. He was born December 8, 1929, the son of the late Charles Simpson and Viola Byerly. He is also preceded in death by the late Mary Elizabeth Grubb Byerly, his wife of many years. He retired from the furniture industry in which he had worked as a furniture manufacturer for many years. He served as a Corpral in the US Army from 1951-1959, in which he received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, and National Defense Service Medal from the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with other church members and being involved at his home church. Those left to cherish his memories are a son James Michael Jr. (Betty) of Lexington; three grandchildren, Rebecca Spainhour, Sarah Michael, and Robbie Michael; six great grandchildren, Chase Spainhour, Riley Spainhour, Corey Wright, Khristin Wright, Damien Michael, and Sophia Michael. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12PM at Greers Chapel Methodist Church on 8195 Old Salisbury Rd. Linwood, N.C. with Davidson County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends and loved ones at the family home, 306 Cambridge Rd. Lexington following the service. Davie Burial & Cremation of Lexington will be serving the family.
