Basil Calvin Williams, 61, of Thomasville, passed away at Hinkle Hospice House Tuesday, November 14, 2017, surrounded by his family. A native of Virginia, he was born August 21, 1956, the son of the late William E. Williams and Ocie Mae Stanley Williams.
Mr. Williams graduated from North Surry High School and was a truck driver and mechanic for Sides Seeding. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.
Remaining to cherish his memory is his wife of 42 years, Betty Jean Sutphin Williams; three sons, Johnny Williams of Wallburg, Richard Williams and Brian Williams of the home; one daughter, Marcia Kiger (Kristin) of Wallburg; four brothers: Elmer Williams of Richmond, VA, Lee Williams (Jeanie), Rodney Williams (Jackie) and Bobby Williams (Dale) all of Mt. Airy; three sisters: Elizabeth Brown (Bob) of King, Linda Burton (Larry) of Mt. Airy and Charlotte Lawson (Paul) of Ararat, NC; eight grandchildren: Shay McDaniel (Brandon), Kallie Sue Kiger, Emma Kiger, Ellie Kiger, Gage Williams, Keaton Williams, Jacob Williams and Annabelle Williams. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two infant sisters and five brothers: Howard Williams, Junior Williams, Hank Williams, Cecil Williams and Ricky Williams.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 18, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Freedom Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 PM with Preacher Clyde Akers and Tommy Dale Pack officiating.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Hinkle Hospice House.
