Sarah Annitta Cross Willenborg, 68, of Lexington passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Thomasville Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1949, to the late Arnold Leonard “Pete” Cross and Wilma Basinger Cross.
Mrs. Willenborg graduated from Lexington Senior High School in 1967, Rowan Community College in 1972 and UNC Greensboro in 1976. She was a nurse at Lexington Memorial Hospital for twenty eight years before becoming a preschool teacher for ten years. She was the executive director of Cotton Grove Head Start of Davidson County. Sarah was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include special friends, Sherry and Corky Sink of Lexington and two great nieces, Chelsea Elizabeth Woolwine of Reidsville and Courtney Danielle Burgess of Lexington. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Leo Cross and Larry Wayne Cross and three sisters, Alice Cross Muchler, Mary Cross Isaacs and an infant twin sister, Sallie Anita Cross.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 10 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the chapel of Davie Burial & Cremation Service of Lexington. The Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Misty York and Pastor David Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
