Roger Dale Gathings, Sr., 66, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at his residence. He was born January 14, 1952, the son of the late Morris Gathings and Virginia Mauldin Gathings.

Roger was a self-employed building contractor and was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his five sons, Sonny Gathings (Brenda), Matt Gathings (Lee), Shane Gathings, Roger Dale Gathings, Jr. and Bo Selleck; one daughter, Cher Chavis (John); two special ladies that were like daughters, Mia Cannon and Cynthia Green; two brothers, Jimmy and Gerald Gathings; nine grandchildren, Nick Selleck, Cameron and Riley Gathings, Braxton and Rhiannon Welley, Megan and Ashlee Clouse, Alexis and Elijah Chavis; five great grandchildren, Jason Davis, Jr., Rocky III, Kalanea, Malanea and Dalanea Hadden. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son Cody; his companion, Gwenn Cannon and three brothers, Cecil, David and Barry.

There will be a gathering for friends and family at 401 Raeford Ave., Lexington on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 3:00 PM.

Davie Burial & Cremation Service of Lexington is serving the Gathings family.
